Nasser
Melissa Martens | NL | 2015 | 19 minutes | Dutch spoken
A thirteen year old Dutch-Moroccan girl is called ‘Nasser’ by her friends, because she feels different from other girls. She is insecure about how to react to her mother’s pressure to change, but she is determined to remain true to herself.
Limina
Joshua M. Ferguson & Florian Halbedl | Canada | 2015 | 15 minutes | English spoken, English subtitles
A magical gender-fluid child named Alessandra who, led by innocence and intuition, is so curious about the lives of the inhabitants of a small picturesque town that they decide to play an active part in an unknown woman’s mourning process.
Escaping Agra
Pallavi Somuetty | USA | 2015 | 23 minutes | English spoken, English subtitles
Sympathetic, personal story, combined with stand-up comedy. The film starts out as fairly shocking: Naveen is detained in India against their will when their parents discover their gender and sexual orientation. Later on, personal growth, liberation and genuinely interested and loving parents in law come into the picture.
MAJOR!
Annalise Ophelian | USA | 2015 | 91 minutes | English spoken, English subtitles
MAJOR! tells the story of the life and struggle of Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, a 73 year old black transgender activist who has been fighting for forty years for the rights of trans women of colour. Miss Major is a veteran of the stonewall riots, a survivor of Attica state prison, a former sex worker, a community leader, and a human rights activist.
Her personal story is intertwined with the LGBTQ struggle for justice and equality, from the sixties to this day.
My Nature
Massimiliano Ferraina & Gianluca Loffredo | Italy | 2015 | 75 minutes | Italian spoken, English subtitles
A beautiful and unique film about the journey of discovery of Simon, a trans man, who leaves his residence in South Italy for the idyllic, central Italian countryside of Umbria. The road to a complete understanding and realisation of his dreams is still influenced by events from his past. Through new friendships and experiences in contact with nature, he learns, after years of self-hatred, to love himself.
