Movies that Matter starts the On Tour Season in October with the Turkish documentary Blue ID. This is a film about Rüzgar Erkoçlar, a trans man and actor. The film will be shown in seventeen cinemas in the country in a collaboration between Movies that matter and TranScreen.
The documentary was initially intended as an informative film for Turkish trans people. It starts with a proud Rüzgar’s first testosterone injection in 2012. But this changes when he is outed to the press during his transition process. Hostile talk shows and sewer press can’t get enough of the ‘controversy’. Blue ID then becomes a story about privacy, the power of media and the tension of being a famous person with a queer identity.
Blue ID will be shown between October 3 and October 25 (always only once and usually with an introduction and/or discussion) in the following film theaters:
– Filmhuis Alkmaar
– De Lieve Vrouw, Amersfoort
– Filmtheather Kriterion, Amsterdam
– Gigant, Apeldoorn
– Focus Filmtheater Arnhem
– Filmhuis Breda
– Filmhuis Lumen, Delft
